El Montgo some 753 metres high from whose summit one can view an immense panorama of the surrounding countryside. The fishing Port of Denia also boasts a magnificent nautical club and harbour. Commercial ferries sail to the Balearic Islands and there are daily small ferry excursions to the neighbouring town of Javea, about 90 minutes by sea. The Costa Blanca enjoys one of the best climates in Europe, according to the World Health Organisation, with 325 days of sunshine per year and an average temperature of 220C in summer and 150C in winter.Exploring the Local Area Denia is situated almost half way between Alicante and Valencia (approximately 65 miles) with their respective International airports and is easily accessible by motorway. thereby giving the town a more international family orientated atmosphere
as most tourists are inclined to rent villas or apartments
For the sports enthusiast, practically every sport associated with
the sea may be enjoyed in Denia.
The ancient Castle of Denia is open to the public and houses an Archaeological Museum. This is certainly worth a visit. There is a wide variety of international restaurants some with music and entertainment, with a good selection of Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indian, Indonesian, Italian, and, of course, traditional Spanish, not forgetting the typical bars, and for those who wish to dance the night away there are discotheques. Every Monday morning there is a market held in Denia,
selling a variety of ceramics, leather, jewellery, clothes, shoes, household
and numerous other goods. |
